Loose Lips

  • Having a vulva, regardless of one's identity, inevitably comes with baggage. Loose Lips, acknowledges experiences that are beyond cis and heteronormative values that unravel the true realities of having a vulva. We want to understand why many may feel uncomfortable having conversations or sharing stories about gynecological anatomy and pleasure. Our goal is to challenge feeling comfortable talking about the uncomfortable.

  • A bed sheet is the visual motif for our cover because we expect the zine to be read in a safe and comfortable space. Our staple-bound structure reveals what’s between the legs, with a climactic center spread. Page furniture is pushed towards the center gutter to emulate the center spread throughout the zine. In the back, a mirror is included, alongside steps that outline an approach to acknowledging your genitalia.

  • Research, surveys, interviews, writing edits, logo refinement, pacing of zine, file set up for Risograph printing, product photography, photo editing, mirror concept and production, layout for written and visual submissions.

  • 60 copies purchased. 100% of the net proceeds were donated to Trans Women of Color Collective.

“Intimacy doesn't need to be sexual, it doesn't need to be intercourse. It can be riding your bike with someone you love, it can be anything that makes you happy.”

“Sex and pleasure are like ordering at Baskin and Robbins. If I don't say anything, how is the poor kid on the other side going to figure out what I want?”
